Quest Feature: Blades in the Dark
2 minute read
VictorF

After escaping the Thalmor Embassy and recovering a registry of surviving Blades, the player’s next objective is to find them. Traveling across eastern Skyrim, Kesem and the player will seek out surviving Blades–as well as other friends they may make along the way. This quest also reveals the existence of an abandoned Blades keep, long hidden away, that might offer shelter and safety–and so the player and their newfound allies go forth to seek it out.

But not all is as it seems in this long-deserted stronghold. The player must face magical seals, creatures that lurk in the dungeons, and the ghosts of the fortress’ past. As the group navigates the mysteries of the castle, Kesem finds himself torn between his duty to the Empire and his life’s dream of taking up his father’s sword as a Blade.

Blades in the Dark will take you through many locations, introducing a variety of characters that will become critical to your journey. Claiming the keep will offer the opportunity to turn it into a home–both for your companions and, if desired, yourself. While the time of the Blades may be past, the time has come to begin rebuilding–and to reclaim the Order’s lost legacy.

"I have to admit--when I asked to come along, this wasn’t what I expected. Who could be hiding behind a door like that?"

I looked up to see a man, hidden in the shadows of the vegetation. He was not like the golden and purpled-skinned beings that I'd just been accosted by. Instead, he appeared to be human. He spoke. "So, what transgression led you to be imprisoned...

I closed my journal after finishing a sketch of a particularly bulbous glowing plant. It was invigorating to catalog so many mysterious creatures and unfamiliar flora; I’d not felt this good since my 3-month stay on Cathnoquey. With my research...
