Quest Feature: Trials of the Voice
2 minute read
Catir

The destruction of the dragon Mirmulnir and the revelation of your status as Dragonborn has drawn the attention of the Greybeards: an order of ancient monks trained in the legendary Voice. When you are summoned to their mountain monastery to present yourself to the masters, it presents an opportunity for your companion, Alhana, to ask the Greybeards to join their number herself.

Both your resolve and that of your companion will be tested as you travel to the quiet village of Ivarstead and up the Seven Thousand Steps to High Hrothgar, facing a physical and spiritual journey on the way up the mountain as you and Alhana fight off perils, survive hazards, and recount the ancient history of the Greybeards. But your journey does not end there: upon reaching the monks, you must submit to their inscrutable tests of your Voice to determine your true nature and potential as Dragonborn.

Though this quest is one of Extended Cut's closest matches to vanilla quests, players will be sure to enjoy an improved experience, as every aspect of your journey is enhanced by the presence of new and improved characters, expanded trials and training, and new interactions and obstacles along the Steps.

I looked up to see a man, hidden in the shadows of the vegetation. He was not like the golden and purpled-skinned beings that I'd just been accosted by. Instead, he appeared to be human. He spoke. "So, what transgression led you to be imprisoned...

I closed my journal after finishing a sketch of a particularly bulbous glowing plant. It was invigorating to catalog so many mysterious creatures and unfamiliar flora; I’d not felt this good since my 3-month stay on Cathnoquey. With my research...
