Quest Feature: The Throat of the World

Not long after reestablishing the Blades, the player is summoned once again by the Greybeards, who explain that it is time to meet the leader of their order: the mysterious Paarthurnax. Reunited with Alhana, the player must ascend the Throat of the World--the highest peak in all of Skyrim--to meet Paarthurnax at the summit. When they reach it, they quickly find that the leader of the Greybeards is rather different from his brethren: he is an ancient dragon who has spent millennia practicing focus and meditation to suppress his darkest impulses. With Paarthurnax, the Dragonborn will further their training and learn more about their nature--if they can survive the perilous path to reach him.

This quest is meant to add depth to one of Skyrim's most iconic dialogue sequences, and Paarthurnax's iconic voice has not been changed in the mod. However, the addition of Alhana--as well as a few surprises for players to experience during this sequence--strike a balance between preserving the Paarthurnax players have come to love while expanding and reworking the quest to the same high quality standard players can expect from Extended Cut.

I looked up to see a man, hidden in the shadows of the vegetation. He was not like the golden and purpled-skinned beings that I'd just been accosted by. Instead, he appeared to be human. He spoke. "So, what transgression led you to be imprisoned...

I closed my journal after finishing a sketch of a particularly bulbous glowing plant. It was invigorating to catalog so many mysterious creatures and unfamiliar flora; I’d not felt this good since my 3-month stay on Cathnoquey. With my research...
